NYE in Queensland
There will be two 10-minute shows to welcome the New Year, one at 8.30 pm and one at midnight. The skies above the river city will be lit up with five tonnes of fireworks, or 30,000 pyrotechnic effects, fired from three barges and three city rooftops during each display. The best vantage spots at the South Bank Parklands traditionally fill up early so event-goers are advised to arrive early. Bikes, scooters, pets, drink bottles with broken seals (including bottles of water or soft drink), metal cutlery, glass and alcohol are not permitted in the park lands during the event. The Story Bridge is also set be a centre piece on the big night when it will sparkle with thousands of LED lights.
